Where the Passion for Detailing Began

My passion for car detailing didn’t start in a shop, it started in my own driveway.

Back in the early days, I was hands-on restoring and refining my personal 2004 Hyundai Tiburon, learning the fundamentals of respraying, wet sanding, paint correction, and polishing. Countless hours were spent understanding paint finishes, correcting imperfections, and chasing that deep gloss finish that makes a car stand out.

This hands-on experience laid the foundation for what would later become a professional detailing service, built on patience, precision, and an obsession with doing things properly.

Falling in Love With the Car Scene

As my skills grew, so did my connection to the wider car scene.

I fell in love with clean builds, attention to detail, and the pride that comes with a well-presented vehicle. From daily drivers to enthusiast cars, I became obsessed with maintaining finishes, refining interiors, and pushing vehicles to look better than factory condition.

Detailing stopped being just a hobby it became something I genuinely cared about. Clean cars weren’t just about looks; they reflected effort, pride, and respect for the vehicle.

That mindset still drives every job today.

The Start of Hook Mobile Detailing

In 2023, after relocating from Newcastle to Wollongong, Hook Mobile Detailing was officially established.

What began as a passion project quickly grew into a trusted mobile detailing business servicing Wollongong and the Illawarra, with a focus on professional car detailing, paint correction, and ceramic coatings.

Starting fresh in a new city meant building a reputation from the ground up and that reputation has been built on reliability, honest pricing, and consistently high-quality results.
